Questions about Photographing in Cincinnati Parks

1. Do portrait photographers need a permit for photo shoots at the park?

Two answers:

No. If you're not using the photos to sell a service, product or idea, there is not need for a permit.

Yes. If you are having a mini session day at the park. This is because you are likely either setting up a display/props for your clients and/or using a specific space in the park for the duration of the day. This requires a Special Use Permit.

This can also be a yes to those that use a lot of free standing equipment (lighting/backgrounds). If you're quick at it, you might be ok, but you'll definitely get more attention faster and be questioned about a permit.

2. The permit application states that we are not allowed to use many of the popular pavilions. Why?

These are places that are exclusive to being rented out. You can have the pavilion in the background of your photo but you have to pay to rent the space if you want to shoot in it.

3. What is the fine if someone doesn't follow these rules?

No fine. You will be asked to leave.
